The Cairo Town Supervisor has implemented a burn ban due to drought or high fire danger for the Cairo Fire District and the Round Top Fire District until further notice.
Here are some specific guidelines on what is allowed and what is prohibited:
- What is prohibited:
- Residential brush burning is prohibited.
- You cannot burn garbage, leaves, loose leaves or piles, tires, pressure-treated or painted wood, or other non-organic wastes.
- What is allowed:

- Contained/enclosed (brick, stones, metal, etc…) Campfires/firepits less than 3 feet high and 4 feet wide/length/diameter.

- Small cooking fires.

- Ceremonial bonfires.
- Agricultural land restrictions: Organic agricultural wastes may be burned under specific conditions on agricultural land larger than 5 acres, provided they can be completely burned within 24 hours.
