It’s that time of year again! The annual NYS Department of Environmental Conservation Burn Ban! Starting March 16th it will go into effect until May 14th! It’s not an entire “Ban” however restricting what is allowed to be burned aids in preventing out of control fires from spreading rapidly!

The Supervisor has declared a snow emergency for snow removal on Main Street from February 22 thru February 23, 2026. Parking shall only be allowed on the odd side of the street from 8 PM – 8 AM and on the even side of the street from 8 AM – 8 PM. Please review the Local Law below for regulating Parking of Vehicles and/or Machinery: Local-Law-2-of-2022-Parking-of-Vehicles-and-or-Machinery-on-Highways-within-the-Town.

On March 2, at 7:00 pm, at the Cairo Town Hall. The Cairo Town Board shall hold a Public Hearing to present the proposed six-month moratorium for Local Law #2 of 2026 imposing a temporary town-wide, six-month, moratorium on Battery Energy Storage Systems.
